The World Surf League's Surf Ranch is the first artificial wave pool of its kind, created by Kelly Slater and his team at the Kelly Slater Wave Company. The 2,000-foot long, 500-foot wide basin took nearly a decade to perfect and is the best mechanically produced wave in the world. Surf Ranch, started by Slater and owned by the World Surf League, includes a massive, sustainably powered wave basin. The wave is the world’s longest rippable, open-barrel man-made wave and something that needs to be seen to be believed. The system can generate various waves, from beginner waves to high-performance waves.
The WSL held the Fresh Water Pro event at the Surf Ranch in September 2019. It will be the site of a new reality TV series called "Ultimate Surfer" which is scheduled to be taped in April/ May 2020.
