Visit Visalia Welcomes the Future St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church
Visalia, Calif. (Oct. 18, 2019) – Visit Visalia joins the excitement as St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church breaks ground on what will become the largest Catholic church in the Western United States.
The St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church began a two-year construction project in Visalia, California, on the corner of Caldwell Avenue and Akers Street. When complete, the Catholic Parish church will have a 3,000-person seating capacity.
“There are such strong Catholic roots throughout California and the surrounding states, so to have been selected as the city where the largest Catholic Church in the Western United States will reside is a testament to the welcoming environment and community that we've established,” said Visit Visalia Executive Director Nellie Freeborn. “ This is an exciting day for Visalia. We extend our greatest welcome to the visitors who will travel here and encourage them to experience our city throughout their stay.”
St. Charles Borromeo Church, a 36,000-square-foot building with a California mission-style design, is projected to be complete by Spring 2021.
